Meet Our Board of Directors

Anthony Bass | Chairman

Anthony Bass currently serves as the Director of Programs with StepUp Greensboro. Anthony has been a part of StepUp Greensboro since 2012. Before he started with StepUp he was the Shelter Manager at Greensboro Urban Ministry. From 1996 -2004 Anthony was the Assistant District Manager for Sodexo; responsible for $32 Million in revenue. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors for Wheels 4 Hope. He is the coordinator for a homeless shelter at Faith Step Ministries. Anthony is a faithful member of Love And Faith Christian Fellowship in Greensboro, NC. Anthony spent 7 years in the US Army. Anthony is a proud husband of a lovely wife, father of three children, and five grandchildren.

Paris S. Ford | Board Secretary

Paris S. Ford, married to Adrian J. Ford, have 3 wonderful children (Ta'niqua, Adrian and Jailyn). They moved to Greensboro NC from the small town of Rocky Point, NC. Paris is a Veteran of the US Army and proudly served 8 years. She is Member of Love and Faith Christian Fellowship and actively serves within the New Members Ministry and a former member of the Mime Ministry. Paris' careers spans over 22 years in the medical field. Her educational tenure extends from being a Medical Assistant, CNA, a Certified Occupational Assistant with an Associates Degree and now an Occupational Therapist Graduated from Belmont University with a Masters in Science in 2010. Her employment includes working with children, young adults, as well as the geriatric population. Her passion for her line of work comes from a strong sense of self-worth and accomplishment and helping others regain their lives gives her great joy. Former member of NANBPWC, INC; National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs; where she served as Financial Secretary.

Jacqueline Green McCoy | Board Member

Born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina, married to Douglas W. McCoy III, for twenty years; we have four beautiful children. Jacqueline has been a manager in the food industry for 14 years. Jacqueline has been a member at Mt. Zion Baptist Church for over 30 years; Sr. Pastor Bryan J. Pierce, she serves as a volunteer on the youth ministry. Jacqueline has been on her road of freedom from drugs and alcohol for over 19 years and has made herself available to sponsor other women on their journey of recovery as well. Jacqueline has been a Certified Peer Support Specialist (CPSS) for five years, working in the community, supporting consumers with life skills, and assisting them to achieve their goals. Because God has favored Jaqueline from the bondage of addiction, she has compassion and a deep desire to see women set free of substance abuse and alcohol addiction. Jacqueline is confident that she will be a tremendous asset serving on the board of directors of Daughters of Zion Clean and Sober Living House, Inc. because of her personal experience of the disease concept of substance abuse and alcohol addiction.

Nancy Hines | Board Member

Nancy Hines is a Greensboro, North Carolina native. Currently she is a retiree from Guilford County Schools, having worked as a Parent Liaison/Youth Development Coordinator for more than thirty-four years. During her tenure with GCS, she served as the bridge between students’ homes, school, and community, as well as in a number of other leadership roles: Coordinator of the Fisher Park Summer Enrichment Program, PTA Liaison, First Responder, Volunteer Coordinator, member of the Leadership Team and was chosen to be a leader in the Chain of Command. Additionally, she was a United Way Representative. A highlight of her career was being selected GCS Employee of the Month. Nancy expanded her skills when she attended Leadership Development Programs at the Center for Creative Leadership, the Greensboro Education Development Council (Challenge Greensboro) and L eadership Training at Yale University for the Comer School Development Program. With her desire to meet the needs of and a passion to encourage others, Nancy has been blessed by God to serve him both inside and outside the walls of the educational and church institutions. Her past Church involvement includes serving as Sunday School Teacher, Evangelist Team member, Deacon, Youth Advisor and Praise and Worship Leader. Presently a member of Love and Faith Christian Fellowship Church, she is involved in the following ministries: intercessory prayer, The Good Shepherds International, ordained Deaconess, Seasoned Saints and Assistant Facilitator/Administrator of the Eagle Nest Bible College. Nancy has two daughters, both of whom decided to follow in her footsteps as educators: Tonya Murphy, who has been a Wake County elementary school teacher for more than 20-years and Dawn Harris, a GCS High School Math teacher for almost 20 years. Nancy has five Grandchildren, four of whom are in college.

Jeffrey Purvis | Treasurer & Website Administrator

Jeffrey Purvis, a native of Greensboro, NC is currently employed by PhotoBiz | Zibster, LLC as their Pro Web Services Account and Project Manager. His career has included serving his country in both the US Army, as well as the Air Force Reserve. During his service he attended Jefferson Community College, as well as SUNY Albany. Upon being Honorably Discharged, Jeffrey then pursued his passion for Business Administration and worked as a Mortgage Banking Professional, in both servicing, as well as product development. He expanded his skills and experience to include studies and certification in Information Technology and has worked as a Product Development Manager, Website Administrator, Technical Writer and Business Development and Operations Analyst. Jeffrey is a member of Love & Faith Christian Fellowship Church and serves in the following ministries: Kingdom Man, Financial Freedom Ministry, Communion Ministry, Love & Faith Peace Garden, Eagles Nest Bible College as their Technical Administrator and was ordained as a Deacon in October 2017.

Rev. Alma Purvis | Chaplain

Alma Purvis is a dedicated and committed minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She has the heart of a servant and is blessed to be used by God to serve His people. Alma accepted the call to ministry in l997 and was officially ordained on December 10, 2000. Alma has served in a number of leadership roles throughout her Christian journey including Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School, Chairperson of Christian Education, Chairperson of Deacon Board, Youth Advisor, and Assistant Pastor. She has many years of experience providing pastoral care and counseling for those in need and visitation of the sick and shut-in and the elderly. Alma is a member of Love and Faith Christian Fellowship and serves on the Ministry of Encouragement Ministry, is a member of the Seasoned Saints Ministry, and volunteers as a facilitator and administrative support person at the Eagle’s Nest Bible College. Alma worked in the field of education for 32 years as a teacher, curriculum facilitator, literacy coach, and parent education coordinator. She began her teaching career in the Boston Public Schools and continued with Guilford County Schools upon moving to Greensboro, NC in 1978. Alma retired in 2010, but continues to volunteer and advocate for quality education for all children. Alma received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College in Boston, Massachusetts and a Master of Divinity degree from Shaw Divinity School in Raleigh, NC. She resides in Greensboro with her husband, Robert, and they have three children and six grandchildren.
